After graduation, Knight got a job at the local theater, but soon moved to New York, where he participated in the Broadway play Gemini, which ran for three years. He then worked for a private detective agency, sometimes on stage. While working for British TV, the actor met Emma Thompson, who later helped him get a role in the film of his husband Kenneth Branagh. In 1987, Wayne Knight made his film debut - a small role in the film Forever, Lulu, and soon he decides to move to California to act in films.
