Louise Rainer is a German actress, winner of two Oscars, was born in January 1910 in Vienna and in 2010 celebrated her centenary. Louise first appeared on stage in 1928 at the Dumont Theatre in Vienna. After several performances and inconspicuous roles in films, Louise met an agent of the Hollywood film studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer and in 1935 left to conquer Hollywood. Louise first appeared on stage in 1928 at the Dumont Theatre in Vienna. After several performances and inconspicuous roles in films, Louise met an agent of the Hollywood film studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer and in 1935 left to conquer Hollywood. At the beginning of her career, she starred in several major films:

After a successful triumph, Louise will play in several more films, but the following tapes will not bring her much satisfaction in her work. Disappointed in the Hollywood film industry, the actress marries playwright Clifford Odets, but their marriage lasts only three years and the couple parted.
Since 1939, Louise plays in the theater of Great Britain, and three years later - in the theater of the United States. In 1943, she appeared in the film “Hostages”, but a year later finally left Hollywood. Shortly before this event, Louise married Robert Nittel, with whom she gave birth to a daughter Francesca. The couple lived together for many years, but in 1989 Robert died and Louise never married again. Having finally broken with cinema, at the age of 87, Louise Rainer unexpectedly returned to the cinema, playing the role of her grandmother in the Hungarian film The Gambler based on the novel of the same name by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Despite her disdain for the Oscars, she could be seen at the anniversary awards ceremonies in 1998 and 2003. Also, the most obscure German actress has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. /
