American director, screenwriter and musician Troy Duffy has only made one film, but he still has a lot of time and energy to become a cult figure like Tarantino or Spielberg. The fate of this man is full of complexities and terrible stories, the main hero of which was himself. And he managed not only to survive all this weight and not to go crazy, but also to find his new calling.
Troy Duffy was born on June 8, 1971 in Hartwater, Connecticut. While still in high school, he became interested in music and formed his own band that played heavy rock in his parents’ garage. Immediately after graduating from high school, Duffy moved to Los Angeles in the hope of building a music career. In this city he became friends with musicians, with whom they performed together in local bars and hotels to earn a living. There he fell in love with a girl named Caitlin, and after a while they began to live together. Everything went well, his band was invited to perform at concerts and festivals, and Caitlin agreed to marry him.
But everything changed in one day. Troy returned home from work and found his beloved dead lying in a pool of blood on the floor. As he later learned, Caitlin was killed just to rob the apartment. Duffy fell into a depression and drank, he didn’t have the money to pay for a psychologist, so he just started describing the situation. After a while, he discovered that all of these events produced a very interesting story.
Troy wrote the script and after many years of trying to find a sponsor and producer still released his film.
"The Saints of the Bundock" (1999), followed by its sequel Saints of the Bundock: All Saints' Day (2003). Both films became quite successful in narrow circles, and Troy continues his directing career.
