Boris Igorevich Khlebnikov was born in Moscow on August 28, 1972. After graduation, he went to study as a biologist at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute, but two years later dropped out. Soon Khlebnikov became a student of the script and film faculty of VGIK. During his studies, Boris shot the short film Mimohod, working in tandem with Alexei Popogrebsky. Soon Khlebnikov became a student of the script and film faculty of VGIK. During his studies, Boris shot the short film Mimohod, working in tandem with Alexei Popogrebsky. Together with this director, Khlebnikov directed another film, this time a full-length one, called Koktebel in 2003. The script of this film won first place at the competition of the European Film Academy in the framework of the film festival in Berlin.

"Free swimming" Klebnikov released on screens in 2006. For this film, he was awarded the prize for best director at the Kinotavr festival in Sochi. This film also brought the talented director three more awards: “White Elephant” and two National Film Press and Film Critic Awards. In 2007, working in tandem with Valeria Gai Germanika, Khlebnikov shoots the film “Left” about the story of a Belarusian guest worker.
