Sergey Alexandrovich Kagakov, Honored Artist of Russia, was born on November 24, 1958. In 1980 he graduated from the Higher Theatre School named after M.S. Shchepkin (V.I. Korshunov course) and was invited to the Kuibyshev Academic Drama Theatre named after Gorky, where he served for twenty-one years. During this time, Sergey Kagakov became one of the leading artists of the Samara troupe, playing a total of twenty-five roles, of which eleven are central. Bright talent, brilliant artistry and the widest range of creative possibilities (Kagakov's amplitude - tragicomedic actor, simpleton, social hero, negative) allowed the artist to "give life" to such diverse, dissimilar characters of classical and modern drama as Pancratio ("Venice twins" K. Goldoni), Kukin ("Suffle" A.P. Chekhov), Badri Lomidze ("Chinar Manifesto" N. Dumbadze), Timozkala Karte (" Redozka", "Redozka" Redozka "). The most significant works of Sergei Alexandrovich Kagakov, which allowed his extraordinary talent to be fully revealed, were Khlestakov ("Inspector" N.V. Gogol), Alyosha Karamazov and Smerdyakov ("The Brothers Karamazov" F.M. Dostoevsky), Rosencrantz ("Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead" T. Stoppard); in the brilliant grotesque cabbage "All Shakespeare in two and a half hours" Kagakov got all the roles of Gerfed and Ofed. The role of Khlestakov aroused close interest in the work of Sergei Kagakov from the audience and theater critics, who did not bypass their favorable attention and other works of the artist – in particular, he received the Grand Prix for best actor at the IV Festival of Theatres of the Russian province in the play “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead”.
In 2001, Sergey Aleksandrovich Kagakov transferred to the State Academic Maly Theatre. On the oldest dramatic scene, he played the crafty lackey Sacerdon ("Labor Bread" by A. N. Ostrovsky), the weak-willed Louis XIII ("Cloak of the Cardinal" by P. Gusev based on the novel by A. de Vigny "Saint-Mar, or the Conspiracy in the Time of Louis XIII"), Archimandrite Cyril, Ambassador of Iver ("Tsar Boris" by A. K. Tolstoy), children's common-born ("The Last Victim" by A. N. Ostrovsky). Each of these roles, including small ones, is performed by Sergey Kagakov with great talent and skill, creative imagination and impeccably delicate taste, the ability to penetrate deeply into the psychology of the depicted character. One of the last works of Sergey Alexandrovich, which was appreciated by the audience, is Bobchinsky in the “Inspector” by N.V. Gogol.
For about twenty years the artist has been working with children. In Samara, he led a drama club; in addition, Sergey Kagakov composes literary and dramatic compositions based on the works of M. Zoshchenko, B. Zakhoder, N.V. Gogol. On the basis of these compositions, he puts mini-performances designed for 3-4 artists, and shows these mini-performances in secondary schools.
Sergey Kagakov is actively acting in films and on television. On account of his work in the films “The Great Adventurers”, where he played Rothschild, “Russian Terror” (Nicholas II), “Anna Karenina” by S. Solovyov (Greenevich), as well as “The Crimson Color of Snowfall”. Kagakov participated in the series "Moscow Saga" (captain Smershev), "Dream Factory" (Surkov), "Liquidator" (surgeon).
