This film is a kind of anthology about Vienna, from the invention of film to the present day. The aim is to break down the usual clichéd "image of Vienna" such as that found in the traditional "Vienna Film" by juxtaposing documentary footage, newly shot material and subjective sequences created by various artists. Individual, self-contained sections of the film gain new meaning within the context of historical material. Familiar sites appear estranged when edited together with historical scenes. Other scenes appear like a persiflage or satirical. The film does not incorporate any commentary whatsoever. It is a collage of diverse materials aimed at conveying a distanced image of Vienna to the viewer close

The film Europolis – City of the Delta combines several full-fledged genres: short, dramatic and documentary. Filmed in 2010 in Austria, Bulgaria and Romania by director Kostadin Bonev.
Story Characteristics of Historical Shorts
The film is devoted to the description of real historical events - the emergence, development, prosperity and, ultimately, the disappearance of the port of Europolis. In time immemorial, this great port was the universally recognized capital of large-scale river navigation, but due to the usual insidious political intrigues of that period, it was ruthlessly destroyed. One important question remains: Will the disappearance of these river gates be the starting point for the gradual decline of European civilization?
The creators of the historical short film "Europolis - City of the Delta"
On the creation of this documentary film worked: Vladi Kirov (writer), Penko Rusev, Elke Kratser, Alexander Binder (producers), Dimitar Mitov and Konstantin Zankov (operators), Nikolai Ivanov (composer), Toma Vasharov (editor).
Why the short film "Europolis - City of the Delta" is worth watching

On February 20th, 1810, French and Bavarian forces killed the Tyrolean rebel leader Andreas Hofer in Mantua, at that time a part of Austria. Hofer had led the Tyroleans in their fight for independence from Bavaria and was betrayed by an insignificant farmer, the betrayal and its effect on the farmer is the subject of this historically-based drama. Director Christian Berger has shot the story emphasizing visual poetics, as well as close-ups to reveal the nuances of subtle emotions as they play across the human face. Whatever the farmer Raffl's motivation -- he is clearly an underdog, overworked, with his labor unrecognized -- he receives no expected reward for his betrayal of Hofer's hiding place, and he has to quickly leave for the city to escape his fellow villagers' wrath. Once in the city and working hard in a factory, Raffl must come to grips with the fact that his identity has changed, and he may have betrayed himself as well as Hofer. close
