He was forced to labor since he was six years old and suffered from hunger, beatings and torture, always at the mercy of the wardens. He knew nothing about the world outside the barbed-wire fences. Japan is a country far removed from the rest of the world, both geographically and culturally. For centuries, its inhabitants kept themselves apart from the rest of the world, little has changed in recent times. Despite the ubiquitous penetration of the Internet, connected to the most remote corners of the globe, few of us today can claim to be quite familiar with the Land of the Rising Sun.
The creators of the film “Gaps in the ancient history of the country of the rising sun”, released in the series “Forbidden themes of history”, intend to lift the veil of mystery over the unknown history of Japan, look into its past, which, as it turns out, hides many secrets and mysteries.
The expedition Andrey Sklyarov, organized by the Foundation for the Development of Science "III Millennium", refers not to the academic history of this country, but to the one about which official textbooks are silent. The authors of the video explore ancient artifacts, the very existence of which is almost impossible to explain in the framework of the generally accepted history of Japan. So what are these objects? Is this evidence of a highly developed civilization? close

The peak of discoveries made by Russian travelers fell on the XIX century. Alexander Bulatovich was the first of the Europeans to penetrate the inner regions of unknown Ethiopia. Nikolai Przhevalsky reached the most remote corners of Tibet. Nicholas Miklouho-Maclay landed on the coast of Papua New Guinea and stayed there alone, for a long five years, studying primitive tribes. Nikolai Arseniev, with his faithful guide Dersu Uzala, studied the Far Eastern mystery full of dangers. A special place is the journey of Athanasius Nikitin and his famous “walking beyond the three seas” in India. In the XVI century, he became the first European known by name, who managed to penetrate the inner regions of this unexplored and mysterious country at that time. In the early 18th century, Khariton Laptev, fulfilling the will of Peter I, went to look for places "where the Russian land ends and the great northern sea begins." The northern regions of Taimyr and this day remain the “sector of inaccessibility”, and it is difficult to overestimate the heroism and courage of the journey of Khariton Laptev and his assistant Semyon Chelyuskin. These were Russian travelers who made discoveries of world significance, but the most important discovery is to be made by us together with Leonid Kruglov. close

From myth to legend Rowland Howard appeared on the early Melbourne punk scene like a phantom out of Kafkaesque Prague or Bram Stoker’s Dracula. A beautifully gaunt and gothic aristocrat, the unique distinctive fury of his guitar style shot him directly into the imagination of a generation. He radiated a searing personal integrity that never seemed to tarnish. Despite the trials and tribulations of his career, in an age of makeover and reinvention, Rowland Howard never ‘sold out’. With recent and moving interviews, archival interviews and other fascinating and original footage, AUTOLUMINESCENT traces the life of Rowland S Howard. Capturing moments with the man himself and intimate missives from those who knew him behind closed doors; words and images etch light into what has always been the mysterious dark. close

This makes him not only impeccable technique, but also the brilliance of sincerity and special passion that imbues his performances. Matsuev’s name is closely associated with the famous Russian piano school, whose traditions he follows, enriching them with his own innovative ideas.
First achievements
Denis was born in Irkutsk and grew up in a musical family, his father was a successful pianist and composer who wrote music for performances held in Irkutsk theaters, and his mother taught piano. From early childhood, the boy learned to music and began to master the game at once on several musical instruments. When Denis was 15 years old, his family moved to Moscow, where he began to study at the Music School at the Moscow Conservatory. A year later, thanks to the charitable foundation “New Names”, the young musician began to successfully tour, including abroad, visiting about forty countries.
Entering the conservatory, Matsuev studied with leading Russian musicians, among whom were Sergey Dorensky and Alexei Nasedkin. Under the leadership of Svyatoslav Balz, he continued to perform in concert programs “New Names”, and in 1995 became a soloist of the Moscow Conservatory. Matsuev’s breathtaking rise as a musician began with the Tchaikovsky International Competition held in Moscow in 1998. Here he won a brilliant victory, and his name thundered throughout the world.
Today, Denis Matsuev’s concerts are scheduled for years to come. It is always ready to host the best concert venues and the most prestigious festivals. To arouse interest in philharmonic art among young people, he organized several charitable programs.
Without neglecting the regions, Denis is in constant search of new talents, holding various youth and children's festivals and competitions, among which it is worth noting the youth music forum Crescendo, as well as the festival "Stars on Baikal", which is held annually in the homeland of the pianist, in Irkutsk. In the film, viewers will be able to see fragments of delightful performances and go behind the scenes of the largest concert halls, whose doors are always open to one of the greatest musicians of our time. close
