For all these years, Timofey Timofeyevich has never been to the capital. He remembers Moscow of the 45th year, and the happy faces of the winners, but not yet veterans, illuminated by the festive fireworks. Many solemn events were prepared for the veteran’s arrival – lunch at the city hall, a meeting with schoolchildren, a visit to the Armed Forces Museum, but all this is not so interesting for him. The history of the war did not know such a mass escape of prisoners of war from a concentration camp. Fugitives were killed with pitchforks, axes, scored with sticks, and the bodies were taken to the center of the small Austrian town of Rid-und-Ridmark and dumped on squares. A black school board was installed on a prominent place, on which 419 sticks were drawn (by the number of our prisoners of war). After each murder, the sticks were crossed out.
