After graduating from elementary school, Fry went to Status Hill, a preparatory school, and then to one of the private schools in the city of Uppingham. At the age of 14, Stephen Fry committed theft, for which he was sent to his parents for a trimester, and a year later he was completely expelled from school.
At the age of 17, he left Norfolk College of Technology and Arts after failing his exams and ran away with a friend’s bank cards. Fry was arrested in Swindon, where he then spent three months in custody. The boy was given a suspended sentence of 2 years, after which he continued his studies at college, and then entered Queens College in Cambridge, where he studied English literature.
In parallel with his studies, Stephen Fry participated in the productions of the Rampa Lights Theatre, where he met his colleague and best friend Hugh Laurie.
