The Soviet film "The Road" is mistakenly dated by some film critics to 1965. In fact, work on the picture was completed in 1961, and the all-Union premiere took place in July 1962.
The film was created at the Armenfilm film studio. The director is Stepan Kevorkov, the scriptwriters are Grant Bagrazyan and Arnold Aghababov.
The film bears a vivid imprint of its time, when enterprise differed from the norms of Soviet morality and was put on the same level with dexterity and unearned income. Positive heroes, like Pavka Korchagin, had to build a narrow-gauge railway on selfless enthusiasm, and sabbathniks, speculators and ragtags were waiting for an article in the criminal code.
Hayk (Ervand Kazanchyan) and Benik (Georgi Demuryan/Demurov) are childhood friends. But after school, their lives diverge. Everyone chooses their own path. Ike enters the institute, and Benik “turns on the side”: he buys a car and “makes money” on the new “Moskvich”. But his business goes smoothly only for the time being. It is difficult for him to avoid participating in a dubious transaction. A little more, and Benik will be involved in crime.
Act composition
Both actors are actors with regalia. Georgy Demurov (Demuryan) is People’s Artist of Russia and Artistic Director of the Nizhny Novgorod Drama Theater. On stage, this handsome man is no less charismatic than on the screen. It is felt that his mentor was Vaclav Dvorzecki. The teacher's lessons were to "uproot what was played." The great actor taught Georgy Demurov to forget roles so as not to repeat themselves. And Demurov all his life was looking for himself in art and worried at the birth of each new image, starting the next film or performance from scratch.
Ervand Kazanchyan is a People’s Artist of Armenia, State Prize laureate, professor, chairman of the Society of Theatre Workers of Armenia and artistic director of the A. Paronyan State Theatre of Musical Comedy. The student of the legendary Georgy Tovstonogov with directorial and acting education led various theaters and brought up a whole galaxy of students, since 1974 sharing his skills at the Yerevan Theatre Institute.
They starred in the movie “The Road” and other interesting artists. In the role of Dayan – People’s Artist of the USSR and laureate of the State Prize of the Armenian SSR Sos Sargsyan (“Triangle”, “Matenadaran”).
We will see in the Armenian film and the People’s Artist of Russia Pavel Vinnik – the “king of the episode”, who starred from 1950 to 2011 in 105 films, including “Bold People”, “The Musketeers Twenty Years Later”, “Good Weather on Deribasovskaya, It Rains Again on Brighton Beach”, “Golden Calf”, “12 Chairs” and others. A veteran front-line with two orders of the Patriotic War and the Order of the Red Star studied theatrical craft in three higher professional universities: Odessa Theatre and Art School, Moscow Theatre School and A.V. Lunacharsky State Institute of Theatre Art. The actor did not break with his favorite thing until his last breath, playing his first role in 1950, and the last one in the year of his death, in 2011. A native Odessa was buried in Moscow, at the Vagankovo cemetery. close
