Many young actors begin their creative biography with roles in TV series or even clips. And some people stop there. At the time when Mikhail Volkov began his creative career, it was believed, and probably not without reason, that one cannot become a real actor without passing the school of theatrical stage. A good role in a movie is luck. Theatre is everyday work. Mikhail Volkov played a lot in provincial theaters: Nikolaev Drama, Kyiv Youth Theatre. His formation in the Leningrad Academic Bolshoi Drama Theatre was very painful and even traumatic - he simply failed in his first role - Chatsky. But soon came on the stage in the role of Molchalin. Theatrical critics noted the “exactly played character” of the mushroom-eating hero: high school manners, aggressive prudence, cynicism. Then Volkov appeared on the stage as Electron Evdokimov in the play “Once again about love”, Macbeth in the Shakespearean play of the same name and each time accurately conveyed the psychological state of his hero.
The debut of Volkov in the movie took place when the artist was already over thirty. He played his best film role in films.
"The Way to Saturn" and "The End of Saturn." There he played scout Krylov-Kramer. In those days, there were many films on the screens about our scouts behind enemy lines, a whole series of the same types, heroes who shot more than they thought and who managed everything without difficulty - at least a mine under the enemy headquarters, at least a whole platoon of soldiers from a pistol to shoot.
The fate of Krylov-Kramer is essentially tragic, he is a “lucky” (in the plot) scout and a person with deep wounds in the soul. He is forced to watch coldly as he is led to the execution of his friend and contact Budarin, he looks shocked at the photo of his son, whom he will never be able to see, finally retreating with the broken parts of the Germans to the West, he clearly knows that he will never return home. /
