“The Clever Criminal” is a video for the song Michael Jackson “Smooth Criminal”, which was included in the singer’s 1987 album Bad, and was also released as a single. Initially, it was planned to make a short film in the style of Western, but later it was decided to use the gangster entourage. As a result, the video was shot in the style of Chicago nightclubs of the 30s.
In the story, Jackson finds himself in a club surrounded by bandits, with whom he deals with a song sounding from a jukebox. Subsequently, the video formed the basis of the feature film “Moonwalk” released a year later. close

"Say Say Say" is a music video filmed for a song recorded between May and September 1981 while preparing Paul McCartney's solo album Pipes of Peace. Two great musicians - Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney - created a miniature project that for Michael became the seventh in one year hit in the Top 10. This single “went” around the world, becoming number 1 in the US, Sweden and Norway and number 2 in the UK, and at the same time “caught” in the Top 10 in Switzerland, New Zealand, Austria, Australia and Holland.
In the filming of the video “Say Say Say”, in addition to McCartney and Jackson, participated La Toya Jackson, Michael’s sister, and Paul’s wife Linda McCartney. close

A slow-motion study by Norman McLaren of the pas-de-deux adagio, one of the most exacting and difficult dances of classical ballet. A ballet originally choreographed by the Russian ballet master Asaf Messerer is performed for this film by the internationally known Canadian pair, David and Anna Marie Holmes, to the music of Albinoni’s Adagio. A film to heighten the aesthetic appreciation of classical ballet and to afford observation of the technique and mechanics of the adagio movements. close

Les Berceaux is about the dedicated sailors who venture out into the deepest ocean, and the wives who must await their return. The woman sits in her living room, gently rocking her infant’s cradle as she sings, the movement mimicking the rolling motion of the ocean waves. Many men will lose their lives to the ocean’s vast waters, but the juxtaposition of death and life (in the cradle) suggests an endless and noble cycle. Kirsanoff imaginatively places a rear-projection screen outside the woman’s window, through which, as she sings, we can watch the ocean waves lapping up against the shore, or the ship charging majestically over the water. Also worth noting is that the film was photographed by Boris Kaufman, who later also shot On the Waterfront (1954) and 12 Angry Men (1957). —Shortcutcinema.blogspot.pt close
