The Pussycat Dolls (abbreviated as "PCD"), a female vocal and dance group, was formed in 1995 in Los Angeles by choreographer Robin Antin. The band performs compositions in the genre of pop, dance-pop and R&B. The emphasis is on burlesque shows with revealing costumes and movements.
After the dance project was successful, in 2003, Antin signed an agreement with Interscope Records. The musical team included leading vocalist Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Satta, Ashley Roberts, Melody Thornton, Carmit Bachar. The project is a commercial success, regularly appearing on various presentations, performances, television reality shows and commercials.
The first album, titled PCD, debuted at number five on the US chart. The singles "Don't Cha" and "Buttons" are popular. The song "Stickwitu" makes the Pussycat Dolls a Grammy Award nominee. In the spring of 2008, Carmit Bachar left the band, and the remaining five girls recorded their second studio album Doll Domination. It was followed by the release of three singles: “When I Grow Up”, which reached ninth place in the American charts, the world hit single “I Hate This Part” and the song “Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)”. However, the activities of Pussycat Dolls are criticized for excessively sexual image, candid behavior on stage and the leading position of the singer Scherzinger, who performs all the main parts.
At the end of 2009, the girls announced a concert vacation, planning to record another album. However, later it becomes known that all the participants, except Nicole, intend to pursue a solo career. In the spring of 2010, the team includes Kerington Payne, Jamie Lee Ruiz, Reno Nakason-Razalan and Vanessa Caria. With this lineup, Pussycat Dolls is starting work on a new album and concert tour.
