“Square Animals” is a Danish animated series created by director Thomas Sorench. It is designed for children of kindergarten age who like to draw. In total, there are 26 episodes lasting about 7 minutes.
Each series begins with a small introduction, in which the narrator describes the next animal, and also explains how to draw it. The drawing is quite simple, designed for small spectators who are just learning to work with pencils and markers. In parallel with the narrative, someone’s hands are drawn with a marker of the main character of the series.
Educational stories
In the first series, viewers are introduced to Ernest's moust. Explaining how to draw a shawl, the narrator uses comparisons ("Ernest's horns look a bit like clouds") to make it easier for a child to imagine how to draw an animal. When the squirrel is painted, its story begins. In each of the series, the narrator shares with the audience a story about a small animal that is still quite a child.
“Square Animals” is not just an entertaining cartoon. It is referred to as developing, because in each series the narrator not only tells an interesting story from the life of small animals, but also makes young viewers think about something, remember, make simple conclusions.
In the third episode, the eagle Emma, who is afraid to fly, rushes to eagle school. Instead of soaring up and flying to the place of study, she jumps down the slide from one ledge to another. When a mosquito tries to bite her, Emma flaps her wings to chase her away, falls off a ledge, but the wings keep her in the air. Having learned to fly, the little eagle realized that it was not at all difficult, just had to try.
Mutual Resource
In the eighteenth series, the audience is introduced to the otter Eddie, who is going to swim for the first time in his life. While waiting for his friend Oswald, he realizes he can't find a swim lap. Without him, the otter is afraid to swim, so when Oswald comes in, Eddie has to lie that he's already been swimming and doesn't want to anymore. Oswald also decided to lie that he had already swam, even though he had not. They argue with each other, and then immediately reconcile, telling each other the truth. Eventually, the cubs dive together into the river and swim in a race. As in the series with the eagle Emma, it is about the fact that until you try something yourself, you will not learn. In addition, young viewers are also made to understand that cheating does not lead to anything good. close
