Before the film, I didn’t know anything about rugby, Nelson Mandell, and certainly not his attitude to the sport, to rugby in particular. This is not a sports drama or a biographical film about politics, this is something in between.
About how the South African rugby team achieved success in the world field, having managed to reach the World Cup.
About the captain of this team (M. Damon), who managed to make every player in the team believe in himself.
Nelson Mundell (M. Freeman), who gave the team confidence and made it clear that people love them no matter what. He knew every player on the team by name! And before each game, he would come down from the stands to wish them good luck before the match, even if there was a game and he wasn’t there, he was mentally with the team... that’s the kind of person! He believed that the country will rise out of poverty, will stop quarrels on national grounds, and the first step to this will be the victory in rugby, because he once played in his youth.
This film should see everyone who is a fan of K. Eastwood, M. Freeman, M. Damon or just at least once supported our team, and believed that it will do the impossible and win.
And in general, such stunning, soulful pictures are needed more, not that sports films, but films where people’s cohesion is shown, despite race, because this is a holiday My friends, for everyone who was sick he knows.
When the championship is going on, all the streets seem to be extinct, all stuck to the screens, as here, even in poor neighborhoods, everyone is waiting, hoping, believing that their team will win, and whether or not I will not tell you... let there be intrigue. It was the Americans who did not shoot the film about themselves, on real events ... the plot is unpredictable, at least for those who did not watch the broadcast of the 1995 rugby games in South Africa.
And Morgan Freeman really looks like Nelson Mandela, it will be seen in the final photo sketches.
Who will watch this tape pay attention to the boy from the poor quarter, who at first will refuse financial assistance - jerseys of the South African national rugby team, and then to the final of the picture, will stick to the car of police officers standing in the cordon of the stadium and listening to the game on the radio - nice, right?
And in the meantime, watch this wonderful film from Clint Eastwood, and believe me, it will not let you get bored!
... I thank God for taking my soul under his wing.
I am the master of my own destiny.
And I control my own soul.
(Nelson Mandella)
