Between the sky and the earth... Some people are constantly drawn to the sky. They find in him something beautiful, inviting, in one word it is their element. This is the kind of person Ryan Bingham is. A corporate lawyer who spends most of his life in the air. He does this by telling people, “You’re fired!” and then telling them their future prospects. For any other person, his life is not interesting. But clearly not for him... Like the most avid aviator, his soul bursts up to finally fly his ten millionth mile.
Jason Reitman is a little-known director for me personally.
I only know him for directing the teenage film Juno ... Although he is not such a teenager, but nevertheless ... The film was very good, and for good reason was nominated for an Oscar for best film ... “I’m in the sky” is his next movie. And again, how many conversations are already underway, that everything, the Oscar for the best film he provided, and that even other candidates can not be, and... In other words, they just didn’t say... Well, here's what I can say. The film is good, but... But the fact is that this is clearly not an Oscar movie. It's too simple for this nomination. Although
If last year "Slumdog Millionaire" was given , which reminds me of this film,
, why not this... The film is shot in the genre - a comedy drama, although almost all the time we have a romantic comedy. The story of a man who turned from a “lone wolf” both mentally and materially into a completely family man, which is characterized by the last shots of the film, well, it is all too lyrical.
As I said, the film is simple in its load, but this does not mean that the film is based only on the romantic relationship of the protagonist with other women, because of which he became a “family man”. As if against the background of all this, the story with dismissals of employees unfolds. Very cleverly showed that everywhere and always there are mistakes, and they can not escape, but at what cost ...
The film is notable for its roles. I don’t really like George Clooney as an actor. More recently, he starred in the stupid preposterous film Mad Special Forces, and
Earlier at least in his career there were good films, but he clearly did not shine there. But in this film he played well, as always in his manner, but still much better than before. If nothing changes, then the Oscar for the male role is exactly his, although, so far, I have not seen other candidates, so I will probably decide who the best candidate is later. Just as well played two secondary female roles, his mistress, and colleagues at work. Vera Farmiga is best known for her great performance in The Departed. Of course, she did not show such a class, but she also played very well. So, Anna Kendrick, a hitherto unknown actress, played very well. Again, an Oscar, well, for starters, a Golden Globe for the supporting role, exactly her. There were a lot of comedic moments associated with her, and she breathed a lot of soul into this film. So, Zach Galifianakis... Although he appeared for a few minutes at the very beginning of the film, but immediately set the course of the whole film.
I would say that there is nothing extraordinary in this film, but, nevertheless, it is very good. Everything is fine-tuned, the ending is not trivial, with an open ending, finally, a film without Happy End. Anyway, I'm happy. Of course, I’m pretty sure Inglourious Basterds doesn’t have much of an Oscar chance, as academics clearly like a more lifelike movie, which is exactly what this movie is. And it’s great that the film was presented in such a light manner, and not in a heavy, tense drama. This is exactly what many of today’s films lack, but it is a pity.
After watching the movie, you might wonder what the meaning of this movie is. No way. Does life have meaning? . .
