Despite the simplicity of the plots (usually), I love films in which the “actor” is dance. It seems to me that these films, like cooking movies, help to show many human qualities without delving into complex psychology. And do you always need to go deeper, in principle, people are not such complex creatures. Here is the film, called in Russian "Take the Lead" / 2006, directed by Liz Friedlander, just from this kind of film. To take a position that is ahead of others: go first, to take the winning position in a race or competition. The film is based on real events about a real and living man - Pierre Duleyne, a famous dance teacher, who is also famous for the fact that he created dance schools in secondary schools, including in poor areas. The main role was played by Antonio Banderas. At first, after learning that the film was about ballroom dancing, he refused to act in it, but then, when he was shown a documentary about Pierre Dulaine, and also after meeting him, he began to act in this film and, as always, perfectly played his role. At the meeting, he told Dulane that they were completely different, to which Dulane told him not to copy him, but simply to show what he had done. However, in the film they slightly changed the real circumstances - in life, Dulane created these circles for classes in elementary school, in the film he creates such a circle in high school, and with dysfunctional students. Once returning in the evening from the next performance of his students, riding a bicycle past a school, he saw a group of teenagers, one of whom crashed someone's car with a bat, he stopped, the culprit, however, he saw, although he immediately ran away, and he took the badge of the owner of the car, it was the school headmistress. The next morning, he came to her, not to snitch on the culprit, but to suggest that a ballroom dance club be set up at school. The headmistress rejected his idea, believing that for the students of this school it is useless, the main majority of students consisted of children of black and Latin American population, they were fond, mainly, break dancing, etc. The next morning he came again, and then the headmistress offered him a group of students from among the disadvantaged, who were constantly left after school as punishment, and they sat in the basement, doing nothing. Then we show the period of formation of this group, he, of course, managed to interest them and even give them the opportunity to participate in a dance competition, although at times had to overcome various obstacles. Of course, the whole plot is completely predictable, except for some intermediate events in the lives of some students, but nevertheless, the film looks good.
