.. Be neither wasteful nor miserly:
Only in the sense of measure is the true good. – Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
A stunning film about Greed, about the pedalling influence of the social aspect of Gold. There is a plaque in the manner and directorial techniques of John Houston - a handwriting comparable to Sergio Leone, but here in this movie there are many biblical references. It was an epic, in my opinion. No pathetic.
Two geniuses are playing here. Damn cool Humphrey Bogart and Walter Huston (father of author John Huston). No unnecessary note of pathos.
For those who love Jack London, there is plenty. I love it. So the story caught me from beginning to end.
“The visionary must place each of his desires and then execute them in order. Our greed often disrupts this order and causes us to pursue so many goals at once that in the pursuit of trifles we miss the essential. Francois de La Rochefoucauld.
It's a great movie. Bravo.👏.
