Briefly about the plot. One day the eleven-year-old daughter of a famous actress begins, to put it mildly, to behave strangely. Then she will begin to offer herself to adult men, then she will begin to beat her mother, aka a gas wrestler, then in the position of “bridge” she will go down the stairs from the second floor to puke with blood the first. Doctors, interestingly, attribute this behavior to attention deficit disorder, for the treatment of which Ritalin is prescribed. It does not help the girl, as do other more powerful means. Medicine not only gives up, but assumes that a demon has invaded the girl. The mother asks for help from the priests.
This tape can be safely called cult - it should be watched, only because of all sorts of references to it. Our viewer knows it, for example, from the film “A Very Scary Movie – 2”, the beginning of which is a complete parody of “The Exorcist”. In addition, in one of the episodes of the series “The Simpsons”, Homer, in order not to go to work, crawls on the ceiling and turns his head 360 degrees, which is also honestly stolen from “The Exorcist”.
The film belongs to the horror genre. I do not respect such works, because it is not serious to be afraid of such things. But here everything was filmed so cool that in the most tense moments I couldn’t take off the screen. In a recent survey among the British, the film “The Exorcist” took first place in the nomination “The scariest film”. It’s not surprising, of course, because the director shot everything so well that with a budget of $ 12 million, the film grossed $ 441 of the same million. I think the average Russian director would have done things differently: spent 441 and collected 12. By the way, in second place in this list - spoiled by our morons from the translation of "The Shining", on the third - "Alien" Ridley of our Scott.
The film, interestingly, promotes religion. It is true that when science has lost its hands, when the police are powerless, and when even riches do not help, they come to the rescue - brave guys in cassocks and soutans. Idiots think that propaganda is when it says “United Russia” in 20-meter letters. In fact, everything goes deeper and different: citizens will receive the ideas they need through KVN and cinema. Citizens will continue to consider themselves free-thinking. There is a very interesting moment in the film. The priest during the exile says that to the Lord we are all dirty cattle (read: cattle) and we should never forget about it. I recommend you think about it.
Collectively, the film is a masterpiece. It is recommended to watch.
