Karl Adolf "Max" von Südow, an outstanding Swedish actor, known mainly for his collaborations with director Ingmar Bergman, was born in Lund, Sweden, on April 10, 1929, to a teaching family who moved to live in Pomeranian Prussia.

From 1947 to 1951, he studied and successfully graduated from the Dramaten School at the Royal Theatre in Stockholm, where he subsequently performed as an actor. In the second year of study, Karl Adolf debuted in the film “Just a Mother” directed by A. Sheberg.
In 1955, he moved to Malmö, where he met with
"Seventh seal" 1956. Meeting and working with this director brought Syudov international recognition and popularity. The actor began to invite to participate in their films such masters as Wim Wenders, Francesco Rosi, Woody Allen, David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, John Houston, Andron Konchalovsky.
In 1965, he played his first major role in the American film The Greatest Tales Told, after which Max soon moved with his family to live in Los Angeles.
