Transformers: Warriors of the Great Power The second generation, or G2, as it is called by fans of the animated series, aka MasterForce in the official version - one of the most serious and key generations of "Transformers".
Here, for the first time, a human-transformer analogy is drawn, real organics appear, and enemies become more like monsters than robots, representing a mixture of creepy monsters with mechanical content. Unlike the G1, the Second Generation focuses on the human factor. This series is the closest to “Transformers” by Michael Bay, in other words, to the film adaptations. Here even the theory of the universe is considered through the energy sphere, in fact, from the energy cube of the Spark differs little.
The appearance of old and already beloved characters will cause fans wild delight. Returned Optimus Prime, switched to the side of the Autobots Devastator, many times increased the power of the Scorpions. Well, Overlord is a kind of cross between Galvatron and Shao-Kahn from Mortal Kombat. The main characters, who are people here, are divided into three generations. There are Warriors of the Great Power, that is, older and higher creatures. There are four representatives of the second generation (Pretenders) and there are juniors - new young warriors, children of the age of 11-12, bravely fighting for the planet, helping the wounded, and gaining the ability to become transformers.
Of all the many Transformers series, this one turned out to be one of the most violent. And we are not even talking about how the war between Autobots and Deceptecons unfolds, but just in the abundance of innocent victims: people are killed, cities and towns are destroyed and destroyed, you can often see blood, at the end of the Earth turns into a post-apocalyptic world, where a bunch of survivors sheltered in the bowels of the subway, who can hardly be called lucky at that time. Despite all this, there is room for heroism, saving lives and providing the necessary assistance. Serious and almost devoid of humor, the animated series, nevertheless, has naive elements, most often manifested in the series of searches for Great Power Warriors, where it is difficult to imagine a more naive joining the team. Enemies are also several generations, the Decepticons turned into real monsters, terrorizing the entire planet, not just individual zones and continents. The action takes place in various countries and corners of the Earth.
The animation of the fights has undergone a significant change, and it does not look as primitive as in the G1. However, to the level of battles "Grendiser", released much earlier, in the seventies, Masterforce still does not reach. The very drawing of robots remained in the same style, although the transformers themselves with the acquisition of power suffer certain changes in appearance. The second generation looks very pleasant and interesting, each series with a separate story is always part of something bigger. And the Decepticons and all revealed during the series until the latest series.
To say that the Second Generation was better than the G1 would be a mistake. The sequel turned out at an excellent level, and the biggest plus here is the amazing musical accompaniment, the most beautiful of all the compositions of the animated series of this universe. But the transfer of actions to a greater extent on people was a step a little rash, because the war of big robots has overgrown in G2 is a different form, and the humanization of the main characters is not always beneficial. Optimus Prime character is transformed throughout the series, and does not often show here the wise leader, reaching this type only at the end. The absence of Megatron also did not benefit, Overlord is incredibly far from the greatest Deceptecon.
Deciding to take an alternative path, the creators of the second generation lost some important elements of the original series, and presented essentially the same story in a completely different way. The rest is a matter of taste, someone will like the classic battles in the spirit of G1, someone will more like the human factor and the active participation of earthlings in the plot of G2. Strong positive aspects balance work with minor shortcomings and omissions, and an interesting 46-series plot will draw and immerse inside the unfolding military events, fill with multifaceted meaning and tell first of all about humanity.
