The picture should be regarded as a cartoon for children, and in the second place according to the criteria of an adult who has seen everything on the screen.
And the children are different in that they could not watch Shrek. Each character for them can be original and original, and the plot - new. And if we proceed from this premise, the cartoon is not so bad due to the plot, which covers the adult generation at once, showing the story of familiar characters on the other hand, and small viewers, in which they see already known stories about friendship, betrayal, good and bad characters. They laugh at the cones, they just love the cat, because he, like any cat, weaves sour cream on both cheeks; the monster at the apple is afraid to the very end, and then surprised by the plot twist. Not to say that the story is something impressive, but it is interesting to follow the characters, and some of them are really original: the evil sorceress is not a witch at all, but just a deceiver using the work of other people; the cat is a good engineer, striving for new knowledge; the cones are the fruit of unsuccessful experiments; the princess is so clever and brave for a reason, but because her father is an athlete, which clearly affected the upbringing of her daughter; even the goat is no longer a copy of the Shrekovsky ass, but a parody of hockey players who bet on physical, and not on mental development - he even responds to the coach. And most of the little things are not just inscribed in the plot, but also beaten.
At the same time, sometimes the production is disgusting, and you think for the director what happens on the screen: aha, here the princess runs away from the forest with all her legs and does not even notice that she gets into the swampy swamps, so she gets to the house of the witch; and here they show why a magic book is so necessary, here, it seems to show how she helps to magic. By sympathizing with the characters, you help the director (two to be more precise) with your imagination.
In general, the mood of the picture reminded me of “Red cap against evil”, which is also technically bad, but has a great plot. And for those who are familiar with this object of 3D animation, it will be agreed that the local Yagov goat is rather a cousin of the goat from the hat.
The graphics are not disgusting. There is a very noticeable difference in the scenes, and towards the end there are more elaborate elements. Sometimes not only different models catch your eye, but also a lighting render. In a couple of moments, the authors simply forgot to add shadows to the frame. Everything about the physics of hair and wool is done perfectly, but flat models of houses of the “city” are something errant. Probably, the costs of removal - depending on the competence of the contractor, such a heterogeneous result was obtained, and there was no person who would monitor the unified quality control.
Now for humor. It's there, and sometimes it's pretty good. Moreover, it is played not only in dialogues - visual differences of characters or environment are also used. That's not bad.
In general, the picture produces the same impression as a student who is sympathetic to the teacher, but answers poorly on the exam, and he tries to pull it on the test. He doesn’t like the answers because they are full of mistakes, but in the end the teacher sighs, but still puts his signature.
