American Robert Altman's Noir, The Long Goodbye, 1973, is an adaptation of the novel by Raymond Chandler. The main character - private investigator Philip Marlowe (Elliot Gould) is because of his old friend involved in a story that more than once turns out to be quite dangerous circumstances for him and which he completed in a rather unusual way for his profession. One night he was woken up by his cat, who wanted to finally be fed, he had to go to the store, there was no food, he tried to deceive the cat, but attacked the wrong one, she took offense at him and left. I just want to say that the cat played a great role. Shortly thereafter, his old friend Terry Lennox appeared to him in a somewhat scratched form and asked him to take him to the Mexican border, Marlowe and it did not occur to him how this would turn out for him. He drove him, and the next morning he was arrested for aiding the killer, because Lennox's wife was found murdered, he does not believe that Lennox could have killed her himself. After three days, he will be released, as it seems that in Mexico will find the corpse of Lennox and Marlowe begins to search for the killer. I will not tell you, he will find the killer, of course, along the way being involved in several more dangerous events, but this will make him distrust some of his principles. The film is not bad, shot quite in the spirit of the genre, but it looks somewhat out of date or something, I was still annoyed by the main character, smoking just continuously, one cigarette after another, I wonder how this affected the health of the actor who played this role.
