I didn’t think for a long time when I came across Claude Sote’s film The Little Things of Life (1970) and watched it, especially since Michelle Piccoli starred there, for whom I have a weakness, I like his roles. The main character - a successful architect lives with his rather young mistress, it seems that they love each other, but to make some decisive step - to go with his mistress to Tunisia, what she insists, to marry her - he is not able, especially since he, although he broke up with his wife and adult son, but in his memories and life she is often present, like his son, he maintains a good relationship with them. The whole film, starting with a car accident, as a result of which the hero dies, is his near-death stream of consciousness, through which we learn about the events of his life. Before that, he makes a decision, although he has just hesitated, but, alas, he will not be destined to come true. Although it’s a melodrama that I don’t really like, it’s a good movie.
