Jacques Daniel Michel Piccoli was born into a family of musicians. The first 15 years of his career appeared both on stage and on set, playing mainly supporting roles. Fame to the actor came after the film by Jean-Luc Godard “Contempt”. Piccoli was an extremely gifted actor and played in more than a hundred different films, from elite art-house movies to purely commercial films. He received awards as best actor of the year at the Cannes Film Festival (1980), and another prize in the same nomination at the 1982 Berlin Film Festival.
