A very simple and chamber film, shot on the wave of success of the Balabanov Brothers. There are no big discoveries to be expected from him. But there is something about extreme simplification and caricaturization.
The main character is Remezov, a dead man inside who, except for a couple of principles, has nothing left behind. Caught in the aggressive atmosphere of Moscow, surrounded by other similar golems in uniform, he has to find himself and his place in life, having the most scant ideas about it and an arsenal of one and a half army phrases.
Since this is a parable, unlike Remezov himself, who creates complete idiocy, his environment looks even more or less plausible. Blackness, grayness, bribes, set-ups, bullying - a classic of STV.
The film failed to become a major statement. But for once it is quite good - although there are too many blunders, especially in the final.
