Philip Glass was born on January 31, 1937 in Chicago. In his youth he collaborated with the Indian composer Ravi Shankar, who became his teacher and influenced all his further work. He gained worldwide popularity in 1983 after creating the soundtrack to the first film of the trilogy of Godfrey Reggio “Kojaniscazzi”, “Povacazzi”, “Nacoikazzi”. He is also known for his early opera Einstein on the Beach (posted in 1976 by R. Wilson) and numerous soundtracks for such American films as The Truman Show,
