Better to be one-legged than to be single I have seen a lot of ravings in my lifetime, but to make a book masterpiece like this, this, you forgive me, just need a special gift! Of course, I understand that this was supposed to be a comedy, but it turned out to be a parody, and the most clumsy I have ever seen! This film, even in such a very polished version, never compares with other adaptations of Stevenson’s book, not to mention the elegant cartoon-parody of David Cherkasy, quoted by me in the title.
Plot. As a matter of fact, only the purpose of the expedition to the island and the death of old Flint remained from the book Treasure Island itself. Instead of well-known and beloved heroes appeared completely different, horrifying and disgusting. The famous drunkard Billy Bones simply does not exist in the plot, but an ugly type looms, which (thank God!) is immediately led to execution.
Inquisitive and smart boy Jim Hawkins, in fact the owner of the tavern “Admiral Benbow”, turns into a stupid and extremely gullible tomboy who received the map by simple accident. Wise, elusive, always calm and damn charming John Silver turned out to be a fool, running for Trelawney’s skirt throughout the film.
Yes, yes, suspicious and unable to keep his mouth shut, Squire Trelawney is now a woman full of schizophrenia, some of whom are also hungry for blood. Direct and open Captain Smollett is a complete idiot who thinks of "high." Poor Ben Gunn has become a cannibal.
In the frame introduced a gay couple, probably to show how they “beautifully and compassionately” will die. But there is no Blind Pugh, Black Dog, Israel Hands, and therefore there is no danger that you feel when reading the book. And the most important thing for me is that the merry man I adore, Dr. Livsey, turned into a drunk who cut off Okoroka’s leg (in drunken delirium instead of his arm).
Most of the locations are lost, there is no already mentioned above "Admiral Benbow", it is not expressed in any way that the ship on which the journey was made is the "Hispaniola", Bristol, like me, is also absent, and the treacherous island turned out to be inhabited, a Spanish colony is located on it! In general, the plot seems fabulous (and not because it is made from the book). “Silver and Trelawney lived happily ever after!”
Quality. I'm not saying enough. First of all, I want to mention the stunt directors - it's disgusting, the picture on the screen is like it's children having fun in a big sandbox! I also complain to the operator, the director does not understand how he agreed to this! My most heartfelt “phi” goes to the writers, of course. As for the actors, the utter darkness, about which I would rather remain silent.
Conclusion: Even parody should be done wisely!
