A beautiful and beautiful film. Enchanting music. The demon fox escapes from the ice captivity. It has very little time until it freezes forever. The only salvation is to become a man, a mortal. To do this, one of the people must voluntarily give her his heart. But what does it mean to have a human heart?
Asian films sometimes come across such sophisticated masterpieces. A fairy tale, not quite. An elegant story about the human heart, without the warmth of which the external attractiveness is like ice shining in the sun. Beautiful from afar, but so cold in touch.
Love that fills the heart, what is like?
Sweet nectar? Or burning fire?
Peace or battlefield?
https://content.foto.my.mail.ru/mail/al_amigo1/1/h-13jpg The Japanese have such a concept of "Yugen" (from the Japanese "secret, secret, mystical") - an aesthetic category that denotes an intuitive, assumed, rather than explicit, obvious perception of the essence of the object. Yugen, or the beauty of ineffableness, is that beauty that lies modestly in the depths of things, not striving to the surface. It may not be noticed by a person devoid of taste or peace of mind.
And there's Yugen in this movie, a hidden meaning.
Further for those who watched.
The image of the crucifixion (see frame 2 above) as a symbol of suffering, sacrifice, is not accidental. How is passion different from love? What kind of love without sacrifice? That is why Christ came and suffered. There is no sacrilege in the parallel with Christ, despite the fact that the film is about a demon. It is not the demon who sacrifices himself, the demon cannot. The loving heart (in the film it is the human heart) as a metaphorical image of Love in general, it saves loved ones at such a high price.
And that is the meaning and the essence.
