Since I have long loved Tonino Benakvista and his books, I decided to watch another film adaptation shot by Luc Besson from the first book of his dilogy “Malawita” / The Family. The film is not bad, but frankly, I liked the book better, although the film is full of good actors, starring Robert de Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer. The idea that the film is made in a parody manner, since it is impossible to take some episodes completely seriously, this is, of course, a black comedy, not a thriller. Quite intentionally chosen the film, which is discussed in the film club, where the main character was invited as a writer and connoisseur of New York life, is "Good Guys" by Martin Scorsese, in which the same De Niro played the main role. Many people were bored to look at Tommy Lee Jones, the curator of the main character, but for a long almost 10 years he was already quite tired of the main character, who constantly has to be pulled out of all sorts of alterations and once again relocated. Although the film has lost some of the charm of the book, I hope that Malawita 2 will also be filmed.
