Musharics. Saga. Movie number two. In terms of graphics, the second film even beat its predecessor. Beautiful, elaborate landscapes, magnificent animation of water, even the characters themselves have become more natural and not as repellent as in the first part. The rainforest was so good that it sometimes made you forget about smaller sins.
But the plot turned out to be much weaker. The main mistake of both films is the sheer number of characters. ALL Smeshariki, a couple of villains, Tribal Leader, shaman, caterpillar... And everyone has almost the same amount of screen time. Even the caterpillar. Why all the characters merge into a boring, monotonous crowd. Another disadvantage is that almost all of them are significantly different from those images that we know from the series. Barash, as the main character, is given a little more time, and therefore it is more noticeable on him. Instead of a dreamy poet, we have the standard image of a loser. No sudden changes in mood from depression to inspiration, no romantic feelings for Nyusha – nothing you can remember about Barash. The rest of the characters are no better – their characters just didn’t have enough time to appear, and therefore they look flat and caricatured.
The plot follows the canons of the story about the success of a loser. The loser of the talented Barash turns out to be far-fetched, but that is another matter. The inexpressiveness of the characters deprives the story of a significant amount of interest. The finale is a complete failure – a violent forcing of drama from scratch and just as violently squeezed morality. The dullness of the plot is brightened up only by rare funny jokes and nostalgic memories of the two-dimensional series.
“The Legend of the Golden Dragon” did not reach the level of the series, but did not slide into a senseless and merciless pulling money from the audience who bought the title. I hope the same can be said about the next part, which is sure to be.
