She bought the title of the film and laudatory reviews, as well as high marks of familiar moviegoers - the film by Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia "Sad Ballad for the Trumpet" / Balada triste de trompeta, 2010. The film begins with the scenes of the Spanish Civil War, when people are driven directly from a circus performance into the ranks of the Republicans, including a cheerful clown who is given a machete to kill fascists. However, victory does not happen, the clown gets into fascist dungeons, where people are forced to work hard. The mess, however, is still there, as his son manages to break into the place of work and even stage an explosion there. The clown father is eventually killed, and then the action is transferred to the 70s, when his son Javier, who has been hanging out all these years, finally comes to the circus to continue his father’s work, however, in the image of a sad clown. But then he is catastrophically unlucky, because his partner, cheerful clown Sergio, turns out to be an even cruel bastard, truthfully saying that if he had not become a clown, he would have become a murderer, Javier said that he too. Sergio is in charge there, for some reason it is believed that it is the clown that keeps the circus, including he seems to love the aerial gymnast beautiful Natalia, relations with whom develop according to the scheme “torturer – victim”, mocks her and beats her constantly. Natalia seemed to reach for Javier, who at first looks so modest and quiet. But then events will begin to develop in an unpredictable way and end tragically. I have to say, I watched the movie with some effort in two moves. It is clear that the director did not just include a political component in a purely melodramatic story, including documentary footage, perhaps this crazy story, shown with many cruel details, he wanted to draw parallels with the country, but it turned out to him, in my opinion, very clumsy. The whole entourage seems to emphasize all the dirt and horror, which, in truth, often caused a feeling of rejection. So, unfortunately, I could not appreciate this creation.
