The series should show the “real” truth about the USSR: everything is in short supply, there is no Internet and DVD, toilet paper is more expensive than gold, and only two subjects are taught in institutes – “History of the CPSU” and “Scientific Atheism”. Everything that happens on the screen should cause negative emotions and give an additional reason to worry about the fate of the characters. But that's not true. The characters are atomized and live on their own. Looking at them, you do not believe in friendship, love, or family ties between them.
No artistic value this "masterpiece" has. Actors are incredibly bad, and there is no point in dwelling on that. A bold step can be called the invitation of Alexander Yakin for the main role. In his eighth year, he is known as Roma Bukin. The director of the series Fedor Stukov decided not to change anything - so instead of a student Ivan, we again see Roma Bukin.
According to the author’s plan, the weakness of the script should be compensated by the unique Soviet entourage. Screenwriters believed that a hyperbolic depiction of the recent past would automatically make the series funny. But that didn't work out. Why? Because the authors did not finish the job.
For example, toilet paper could be turned from a scarcity to a delicacy, and make the characters of the series dream of a small socket of this product. So many episodes have passed, and not a single shooting or deportation to Magadan. You could be inspired by the animated series "South Park" and each episode shoot the main character, so that in the next episode he, like Kenny McCormick, resurrected again. Why do characters walk in different and not the same? Why is Yuri Shatunov’s song diluted with other compositions? It would have been funnier if White Roses was the only song ever written. If you're lying, it's big!
The show didn’t disappoint, I was expecting it. But this attitude to history is sad. The USSR was the highest point of development of the Russian people throughout its history. And if such films will be released further, it will necessarily turn into a disaster like the sung series “Perestroika”.
