We'll meet again ... and we'll dance what we couldn't dance today © Have you ever wondered how different people are from Asia? They are considered almost residents of another planet, and in many ways this is probably the case. But rarely do people think about what the average Russian or European and a resident of Seoul have in common. And the film
"Sunny" will surprise you.
He will show that childhood in Korea is not much different from childhood in Russia. He will erase the line between “now” and “twenty-five years ago,” revealing the truth that at heart we are always the same. You will see the story of growing up, familiar to each of us, regardless of age, nationality and environment. And most importantly, you may see yourself in the main characters.
The narration in the tape is conducted in two time periods: in the school years of the heroines, when they were all in the girl gang, and in the present, where all their lives, which have not crossed for a long time, although each of the friends keeps the memory of the old days. But there is a misfortune that brings the gang together again.
The acting ensemble was very characteristic, in accordance with the bright characters of this picture, but I want to especially highlight the young actresses
Shim Eun-gyun (the main character, Na-mi) and
Kan So-ra (the leader of the Sunny, Zhong-hwa), who very colorfully performed the main roles. Separately, I will mention Min Hyorin (beauty Su-ji), who got no less significant role, with which she successfully coped; in particular, the moment when an indifferent Korean Barbie turns almost into an Asian killer girl (and this evokes memories of Gogo from Kill Bill).
It is worth noting that the use of English-language songs is not the last thing in the picture. Throughout history, the leitmotif is the composition Boney M. – Sunny, which became the anthem of friendship of the main characters. The film itself is very close in spirit to European cinema. And whether it’s the musical accompaniment, or the fact that we, as a rule, have no idea what life really looks like on the other side of the horizon, (and maybe in all together) – the essence comes down to the fact that the tape easily looks and is perceived as if it was shot in familiar American realities. And this is not to mention the fact that history itself, with the exception of details, could be purely Russian.
I would like to say a few words about the strongest moments of the film. The first scene is a video in which young girls talk about their plans for the future. Plunging into the past with the main character, you begin to compare expectations and what came out of them, and you think that the only person to whom everyone is always responsible is yourself. We can deceive ourselves, forget about our hopes, dreams and plans, but this film and this scene makes us pause and think, “Can I in good conscience say I didn’t let myself down from the past?” If everyone had this video, hello from their youth, would everyone have the courage to watch it? Wouldn’t you be ashamed of the child you once were?
And, of course, the finale of the picture falls into the soul, balancing, like the whole plot, on the verge of lightness and tragedy. And for the opportunity to see the characters as they are, look at them from the inside and once again make sure that twenty-five years is just time, the director (
Kang Hyun-chul) special thanks.
The film "Sunny" is a story about friendship that passed through the years, about the first love, it is a story about youth, in particular about the eternal youth of the soul. This is a picture after which the eyes are blinded by the light emanating from it. And no matter how sad it is, there is no escape from the sun, presented by viewing.
One day we will meet again. If you stand up to us because your life is chocolate, we will come and punish you. And if it's because your life is fucked up, we come and make it better.
