Born in Belluno. In 1928 he entered a college in Milan. In the early 30s saw the light of the first novels Buzzati, sustained in the "Kafkaesque" manner. He received the greatest recognition as a novelist and as a playwright, and in every work of his there is always at least a small fraction of the supernatural and irrational. In Russia, until recently, he was known as the author of a small number of science fiction stories. Only in 1999 in Russian was published opus magnum Buzzati - the novel "Tatar Desert".
