Oleg Borisovich Vidov is an actor, screenwriter, director, was born on June 11, 1943 in a small Russian village Filimonki, Moscow region, in a simple working family. My father was an economist and my mother was a teacher at school.
Oleg’s childhood was filled with dreams of cinema. Every Sunday he ran to watch movies, and after watching them, he vividly imagined himself in the place of his favorite movie heroes: he wanted to be the same kind, brave, brave knight, defeating evil. Having successfully graduated from high school, Vidov got a job as an electrician on the construction of the Ostankino TV tower.
In 1960, having passed the exams, he became a student of VGIK. He was enrolled in the acting faculty (the workshop of Y. Pobedonostsev, Y. Segel). In the same year, the first shooting of the actor in the film “My Friend Kolka!” Oleg Vidov played his first serious role in his student years. In 1963, Oleg received invitations from two famous and talented directors – V. Basov and E. Garin. His acting baggage was replenished with several excellent works that brought Vidov popularity and success.
Debut work of Oleg in the films "Blizzard" and
Ordinary miracle" They were so successful that a year later he received another invitation from the famous director Alexander Ptushko. It was the role of King Guidon in the film “The Tale of King Saltan” that brought Vidov a stunning success.
In 1966, Danish director G. Axel invited Vidov to play the role of Romeo in his film The Red Mantle. The film is based on the ancient sagas of Scandinavian Romeo and Juliet. The Russian actor coped perfectly with his role.
In the late sixties, Oleg Vidov married the daughter of KGB General Natalia Fedotova, who was close friends with Galina Brezhneva.
In those difficult years, Vidov managed to star in several foreign films at once, which was almost impossible for other actors of the USSR.
The rise of the acting career of Vidov fell on the 70s. In 1973, he also entered VGIK, simultaneously acting in films.
After the dissolution of the marriage with Natalia Fedotova in 1976, the failures in Oleg’s career will follow one after another. The ex-wife made many attempts to spoil the acting career of Vidov and he was forced to emigrate from the USSR.
Coming to the United States, Vidov was one of the few who managed to have a good career in Hollywood. He now lives in America with his wife and son. /
