Richard Lester was born on January 19, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. At the age of nineteen, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in clinical psychology. Lester began his career as a director on American television, in the 50s after a trip to Europe, he settled in England and began making films, debuting in 1959 with the short film The Running Jumping & Standing Still Film. Richard Lester received public recognition by making two films of the famous Beatles - Hard Day's Evening (1964) and HELP! (1965). After The Knack... and How to Get It (1965), Lester gained a reputation as one of the most “stylish” directors of the 60s. The peculiar, slightly anarchic shooting technique inherent in Leicester’s works laid the foundations of the modern video clip, thus having a significant impact on the development of cinema, which few people have succeeded in the last 30 years.
