While working on 2001: A Space Odyssey, Birkin met and became friends with director Stanley Kubrick, with whom they collaborated successfully.
Andrew successfully wrote several scripts for such films as “The Missing Boys” and “The Name of the Rose”.
In 1998 he made his directorial debut. The film, based on the work of Stefan Zweig “Burning Mystery”, was quite successful and received prizes at the Venice Brussels and film festivals. Then there were works as a director on paintings.
