Valeria Golino was born in Naples in the family of a scientist, specialist in Germanic languages, and artist. His father was Italian and his mother was Greek. Her artistic career began in Athens – in a famous modeling agency. There at one of the screenings she was noticed by film producer Lina Wertmüller. Very soon, Valeria made her film debut in the film “The Joke of Fate, or the Bandit from the Great Road Around the Corner”, where she played the role of the daughter of a parliamentarian who falls in love with a terrorist. It was quite a success.
A real star. Valeria became, playing the main role in
film "Love Story" "Little Fires", directed by Francesco Maselli. The film itself was highly appreciated by both audiences and film critics, and Valeria was awarded the prize “Best Actress” at the Venice Festival. She began to invite famous directors to her films.
The young actress played roles in the films “Golden Ridge Glasses” by Giuliano Montaldo, “The Royal Whore” by Axel Corti.
In 1988, Valeria was invited to star in Hollywood, which in itself was a high assessment of her talent (foreign artists in Hollywood were not very paid).
