Nikolai Vasilyevich Sergeev was born on December 3, 1894 in the village of Ozerki, Kursk province. On stage since 1920. In 1925 he graduated from the Moscow Theatre College named after A.V. Lunacharsky and until 1932 he was an actor in various amateur houses. In 1932-36, he played in the Theatre of the All-Union Central Council of the Soviet Union, in 1936-1959 - in the Central Academic Theatre of the Soviet Army. Although Nikolai Sergeev first starred in the movie in 1937, making his debut as a commander of a fascist squadron in the film Deep Raid, he became famous for his age roles. A milestone in this respect for him was the role of the old worker Basmanov in the film by Joseph Heifetz “The Big Family” (1954). In this picture, the actor was noticed by Mikhail Schweitzer and gave him a completely opposite image - a stingy peasant Silanty Ryashkin in Alien Family (1955). From that moment, Nikolai Sergeev was invited by leading Soviet directors, and soon he left the theater for the sake of cinema. Among the best roles of Nikolai Sergeev are Ignat Gmyzin ("Sasha enters life", 1957), Maxim Petrovich ("The Sun shines to all", 1959), Vasily Ivanovich Bazarov ("Fathers and children", 1959), captain Sergeev ("Michman Panin", 1960), prison caretaker ("Resurrection", 1961), father Gusev ("Nine days of one year", 1962), captain of a tug ("The Volga", 1963), Speransky-father ("Gray Disease", 1966), Bushuev ("Proshu words", 1976), ("Rishuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyuyu", Vaska "Vyskoy", 1977). The most outstanding work of the actor is the icon painter Theophan the Greek in the painting by Andrei Tarkovsky “Andrey Rublev”.
