Canadian actress Amanda Tapping was born on August 28, 1965 in Roshford, England. When Amanda was three years old, the whole family moved to Canada for a new residence. Amanda's parents wanted her daughter's future to be inextricably linked to science, but Amanda herself dreamed of a stage from a young age.
In school years, the girl showed good knowledge in mathematics, but in high school Amanda was very interested in art. At school competitions, she won quite serious prizes in the field of drama and ecology. In her memories of her childhood, Tapping often said that at a very young age she wanted to become a doctor to treat people, after her dreams were carried away in marine biology, but acting always dominated her all temporary whims.
After high school, Amanda entered the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts, where she studied drama. After graduating from university, Tapping continued her studies, and studied theater for four years, taking part in several productions. At the time, Amanda had no plans to work in television.
In the early nineties, Amanda, along with two women – Katherine Jackson and Anne Mary Kerr – formed an improvisational comedy troupe called Random Acts. The actors put comedy sketches all over Toronto, renting small halls for their premieres. They also attended the Festival of New Ideas, without passing the fair of the Arts of Spring Estragon. Amanda always says with confidence that the theater is her second life, which is inextricably connected with her personal life.
Since 1995, the actress began to appear in various TV shows: the film “Memories”, shooting in the TV series “Straight to the South”, the X-Files, “News Editorial”, etc. The audience could see the talented actress in the films “Call of the Flesh”, “Donor”, “Child for Rent” and were amazed by her acting skills and high professionalism.
The main step to Olympus for the actress was the role of Captain Samantha Carter in the television series Stargate SG-1, which was released in 1997. Amanda starred in this series for more than ten years, the actress is very deeply imbued with the role of Santana, which for such a long time became close and understandable to her.
