Vladimir Cosma is a composer, conductor and violinist of Romanian origin. He was born in Bucharest on April 13, 1940, but since 1963 he has been living permanently in France, where he came to study music. He is a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
All surrounded by the future composer were musicians – mother, father, uncle – all of them seriously engaged in music, father – conducted and played the piano, mother – composed, grandmother was a pianist, uncle – conductor and pianist. It is not surprising that little Vladimir from childhood could not imagine a career other than music. He studied violin and composition at the Conservatory of Bucharest and in 1963 continued his studies at the Conservatory Nationale in Paris. Fascinated by classical music, he from a young age also discovered a penchant for jazz, film music and all forms of popular music.
The road to the cinema was helped by the famous composer Michel Legrand, who recommended a young author to work on music for the comedy Lucky Alexander. So Cosma became the author of soundtracks for such films as
"Toy" "Daddy," "Umbrella Injection,"
"Tall blonde in a black boot" and a number of others, including with the participation of French film stars Pierre Richard, Sophie Marceau, Gerard Depardieu, Louis de Funes and many others. Twice his work was awarded the highest awards of the French Academy of Arts and Technology of Cinema, or Cesar.
