Edmund Shklyarsky was born and raised in a family with strong musical traditions. For five years he studied at the music school in the piano class, then learned to play the violin. After getting acquainted with rock and roll, he put an end to his academic career. Edmund has a higher education in the specialty “Construction of nuclear power plants”. In the middle of 1960 he began to learn to play the guitar.

In the middle of 1960 he began to learn to play the guitar.
In the fall of 1972, he rehearsed with the Aquarium as a guitarist for some time, but eventually abandoned it. A year later he entered the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute. This school is famous for its traditional student rock festivals. That same autumn, Edmund Shklyarsky organized his first group called “Amazment”.
Around the same time, a tenth-grader named Zhenya Voloschuk organized a group called Orion. Later, this young man also became a Polytechnic student. The meeting of these two talented people was bound to take place. In the spring of 1977 Shklyarsky became a pianist and the second singer of the group “Orion”. After a while, he changed his work in Orion to work in the group Picnic. On March 7, 1981, the band was invited to play at the opening of the Leningrad Rock Club.
In the spring of 1982, the group took an honorary prize in the first rock festival in Leningrad. But the really popular group becomes only after the recording of the album called "Smoke".
In January 2009 Shklyarsky was awarded the “Certificate and Badge of Honor of St. Tatiana” signed by Metropolitan Vladimir of St. Petersburg and Ladoga.
