Henry Bergman was born on February 23, 1868 in San Francisco, California. He was remembered in the cinema as a colleague in working with the great comedian of silent cinema Charlie Chaplin.

Henry began his acting career, playing in street theater productions. In 1899 he made his Broadway debut. He entered the cinema when he was already forty-six years old, in 1914.
Two years later, fate brought him to Charlie Chaplin, and began a long-term cooperation between the two actors. Bergman not only starred in Chaplin’s films, he also served as treasurer, studio assistant, and later deputy director. In 1940, Chaplin and Bergman opened a joint restaurant in Hollywood called Henry. It became a fashionable holiday destination for many celebrities of the time.

Henry Bergman was always there for Chaplin in the days of his triumph and in the difficult moments. He worked in the studio until his death from a heart attack on October 22, 1946. He was buried in a memorial park in Culver City, California.
