Jessica Hausner was born in 1972 in Vienna.
She studied at the Vienna Film Academy. In 1995 she filmed the short film “Flora” (prizes at the IFF in Locarno, Vienna and Angers), in 1999 – the medium-length film “Interview” (special prize of the Cannes Film Foundation for student work).
She was assistant director Michael Haneke on the movie Funny Games.
"Sweet Rita" - her debut in a feature film. The film was shot with a digital video camera featuring non-professional actors.
