Initially, young Christophe planned to associate his future career with music, so after college he studied at the Paris Conservatory, but after a while he left his studies, becoming interested in cinematography.
He gained fame in the film industry as a producer in 1996, his first work was the documentary Microcosmos, which instantly won the sympathy of the audience. Since 1999, Christoph Barratier has been producing feature films, his first work was the adventure drama Himalayas, which tells a fascinating story that happened in the mountainous region of Nepal.
In 2001, the talented director was offered work on a serious documentary project “Birds”. This picture became a sensation, the work of the operators was unique in its kind. For the first time in the history of cinema, the main participants of the project, which were birds, were filmed in flight.
In order to conduct these surveys, light aircraft were specially developed, flying at the speed of birds and at the required altitude. In total, 500 specialists from different industries and countries of the world worked on the film. Work on the painting continued for three years.
In 2002, Christophe’s new work, the short film Les tombales, was released.
In 2004, a full-length picture appeared.
