His first works were published in such famous publications as The New York Times and Vogue. In 1975, he began work on the political comic book series Plimpton. As a result, these comics were simultaneously published in more than twenty editions. His unique style is easily recognized among others. Bill Plimpton was the first animator to draw every frame of his cartoons.
By 2008, Bill had created four full-length and 31 short animated films and had released a comic book, Plimpton's Sloppy Comics.
In the late 80s, his work appeared on MTV, and in 1992 on Fox. From 2001 to 2003, Bill, along with Don Hartsfeldt, traveled all over America with the program “The Don and Bill Show”.
Bill Plimpton has been nominated twice for an Oscar, first in 1987 for Your Face and then in 2005 for Guide Dog. In 2001, in the nomination “Best Short Film”, Bill received the prize of the Cannes Film Festival. In 2005, at the festival in Sitges, he was awarded the award for high achievements in his career.
Bill Plimpton is also known as the creator of the clips. He released his first music video for Peter Himmelman in 1990, which later served as the basis for the short film. Since 2005, he has worked on three music videos for different artists, including hip-hop.
