Ulrich Muhe was born on June 20, 1953 in the GDR (Saxony, Grimm) in a poor family of a furrier. Ulrich never thought about the career of an actor, after school he planned to become a builder and went to study at a technical school. Ulrich spent his first theatrical season at the Chemnitz State Theatre. Soon his friend, the famous director and playwright Heiner Müller, invited Ulrich to take part in the production of Macbeth in Berlin. After a successful performance in this performance, Ulrich became an actor at the Berlin Deutsches Theater. After a short time, Ulrich Mue became the leading actor of this theater. He played many roles on stage. For the performance of the role in the play “Clavigo”, the actor was awarded the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring prize.
His film debut took place in the mid-80s. One of his most famous works is the police series The Last Witness. Ulrich was very famous in Germany for his active filming in television and movies. Ulrich Mue received fame in Europe in 1997 after the release of the film Funny Games, where he played Michael Haneke. Another very successful work of his is the film “The Lives of Others” from the director Florian Henkel von Donnersmarck. For participation in this film, the actor received many film awards and an Oscar.

Ulrich Mue was married three times. His last wife was actress Suzanne Lothar, who bore Ulrich two children. In total, Mue became the father of five children. The talented actor died on July 22, 2007 of stomach cancer at his mother’s house near Leipzig.
