Chris Carter was born and raised in Bellflower California. He graduated from California State University in Long Beach with a journalism degree.
The former freelance correspondent and editor of Surfing magazine Carter began his writing career in 1985 at Walt Disney Studios.
In 1992, Carter began working on the X-Files project. In 1996 Carter created the series "Millennium" and in 1999 - "Rough Kingdom".
For his work in "The X-Files" Carter received three Golden Globe Awards (1994 1996 and 1997)
