Sergey Stanislavovich Govorukhin was born in Kharkiv on September 1, 1961. His father was the famous director Stanislav Govorukhin, his mother was an actress of the Kazan Theater. Sergey spent his childhood in the city of Kazan. After school, he entered VGIK at the script faculty, but worked at first not in his specialty. He had to be an installer, a welder, and even a prospector in the North.

Sergey Stanislavovich Govorukhin was born in Kharkiv on September 1, 1961. His father was the famous director Stanislav Govorukhin, his mother was an actress of the Kazan Theater. Sergey spent his childhood in the city of Kazan. After school, he entered VGIK at the script faculty, but worked at first not in his specialty. He had to be an installer, a welder, and even a prospector in the North.
Sergey Govorukhin is known as a writer, director and public figure. For some time he worked as a war correspondent in several war zones: Chechnya, Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Tajikistan.
After participating in dozens of combat operations, Sergei lost his leg in 1995. He was awarded the Medal of Courage and the Order of Courage.
In the mid-90s, he began working on a film about modern warfare, his debut film.
"Cursed and forgotten" , on which he worked together with Inna Vaneeva, was awarded the Grand Prix at the All-Russian Festival of Non-Fiction Cinema, as well as the Academy of Film Arts award.
Later, the picture “Establishment on a departing topic” was published, which received the Moscow government award.
Then came the film “Nobody but us”, shot on his own work. He also wrote such popular books as “Transparent Forests Under Luxembourg”, “With and Without Me”, and the collection of prose “The Muddy Continent”.
In 2002, Sergey Govorukhin became a member of the Human Rights Commission. He was also a member of the Union of Writers and the Union of Cinematographers. It was often published in magazines and the central press. He created a charitable foundation for disabled veterans, and shortly before his death he became the head of the largest production center “Return”.
The last picture of Sergei was “Land of people”, released in 2011. The talented director died at the age of 50 from a stroke in October 2011.
